Domaine Bernard Fleuriet et Fils Tradition, Sancerre 2017
A curious combination of pungent gooseberry, mulberry and white currant from one angle, and minerality, restraint, white spice and crushed rocks from another. A wine of two faces, it is cool and crisp, with fresh, almost tangy acidity. This has generosity, yet a knife edge within the plush fruit. Powerful, rich and long – a cracking entrée into the wines of Bernard Fleuriet.
The 100% sauvignon blanc grapes are grown organically across a blend of two terroirs, 50% clay-limestone soil (richness, complexity), 50% stony/calcareous ‘caillottes’ (freshness and vivacity).
