Luigi Oddero Barolo 2015
Figli Luigi Oddero Barolo 2015
In a lineup of Barolo that spanned a vast array of styles, covering both old and new wave, this beautiful wine sat in a most glorious middle ground. Creamy, juicy and perfumed nose, red apple skin, black cherry and spice. Attractive and fresh in the mouth, I’ve written words like ‘shapely’, ‘appealing’ and ‘pretty’. This is both silky and grippy at once. Perhaps simple in its expression, but long and pure and I love it.
95/100
The Oddero family are based in La Morra, and have holdings in Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga d’Alba, Barolo and Monforte d’Alba. 2014 was the last year that chemicals were used in the vineyards. In the winery, wild ferment in concrete, old (large format) oak maturation. Wines of delicacy, restrained power, purity and elegance.
