Maison Chanzy Rully Les Cailloux 2017

(What an exciting little wine.  Took this to dinner with the family (as you can probably see from the picture), it was polished off before the food arrived.  I didn’t get a photo of the glass because was gone before I had the chance)

Tasted in a lineup of 14 other white Burgundies across a variety of prices, quality levels and styles.  From the southern end of Burgundy, Rully is at the northern end of the Maconnais region, just north of Mercurey (a really exciting appellation with some fabulous value for money wines – some better than that). This is spicy chardonnay – a real step up in quality and seriousness.  Curry leaf, red apple skin, brine, stone fruit and Indian spice – a fabulous wine.  Delicious.  Good length of flavour, the acidity is refreshing (tingly – moreish), and the overall style is delicate, layered and polished.  Love the texture on the palate – it is glossy and polished.  Yes from me.
