Sylvain Mosnier, Petit Chablis 2017

Fresh green apple, cold limestone, sea salt and oyster shell, saltbush and coastal spray.  This is airy, light, made of white sand, murraya, finger lime and white peach.  The palate is chalky and generous with lashings of minerality, delicate white spice and hints of cloves around the edges of the green fruit.  A lovely, lingering and frankly exciting petit Chablis, with more stuffing and substance than I expect for the appellation.  Vinified without the use of oak, this speaks of purity and precision, with a good amount of texture and grip for interest.  From the excellent, albeit low-yielding 2017 vintage.
